It seems like a preachy social consciousness book, as if it was published just a year or two ago in an effort to protest the continued military action in Afghanistan. The device can predict everything perfectlyfrom stock market spikes and sports scores to political scandals and corporate takeoversallowing them to chase down success and fame while staying one step ahead of the competition. I like those type of books on audio! It was as if our most innocent mediums were no longer safe. I learned a lot from writing those reviews, no matter how dreadful some of them were. So there are moments when it feels like literary journalism. But ultimately, it fails for the same reason that House of Leaves failed.
