victoria's secret rapture

Wishing for it for christmas too. I keep testing this, wanting to love it, but there is just something holding me back. I guess she wasn't crazy about that one either but it was half used so maybe she liked it a little bit. I tried this one back when it first came out. I felt classy and ever so feminine with this aura about me. However, like so many good things, it is discontinued. Love love love my favorite scent. I wish they had brought back the old bottle too, but what's inside is more important. In the end the vanilla is strong and beautiful smell like powdery vanilla like a baked cookie. Great from start to finish. i wish i could wear this again! I tried it on today not knowing what it was, and that was probably a blessing, because I am kind of prejudiced against Victoria's Secret fragrances. My husbands favorite scent on me. I dont think that it is only for mature women,im only 24 and it smells sweet and warm on me. Trust me, it's not like anything VS offers currently. I really like this one but I probably won't ever wear it until I am older : ) Definitely more mature smelling! I had this in 1993-94. I adore the scent of this. The amber is very prominent and is so warm and sensual. Love it !!!! But this is one of the best orange blossom perfumes, which is saying quite a lot, because it is one of my favorite notes. Sorry its discontinued along with my other VS favorite Heavenly. Definitely the most intoxicating of the VS scents. i can detect some medical hints which one i love, it's from the freesia i guess. I want to start by saying how much I love this perfume. 1 down. The trick with this one, this cognac coloured little lovely, is to wear such a tiny teeny amount, it is not one drop. I love the bottle, but the initial spray is strong, old-school, a bit on the chemical-granny type thing, but as it stats to dry down it gets tamed and you start getting amber. She used to have the body lotion and the cologne. I wore it again yesterday and coworkers that got near me asked, "what are you wearing? Loved it. This is one of my very first fragrance loves, sweet and intoxicating, it smells like an opium dream. I could almost imagine peaches and apricots dipped in honey. Retired again. And that is ok. The flowers are not too strong nor too realistic like green floral. I have a very small bottle, but I'd wear this over most of their body sprays any day. This is still my fave of the VS scents. Obviously VS didn;'t put others out there like this, perhaps becuase the perfume was just so misunderstood. I think the perfume would be too strong for me, but I will certainly be getting the body splash!! I would buy this just because of that. And even my husband who used to like this perfume on me back when I was 20, said today that he couldn't believe he ever said he liked it! Rapture is everything Victoria Secret intended it to be. Rich, sensual, long-lasting. I have a tiny bit left in my old bottle and it definitely didn't smell like the stuff they were selling in the storeI was disappointed. The first bottle I had was made in 2000-2003. unfortunately my husband hates it :(, lasting power is great on metoo bad I can't wear it around him Rapture is an intoxicating, unique and complex fragrance; evoking many different moods depending on the weather, your skin chemistry, or your attire. There's also a very nice vanilla dry down. Top notes are Orange Blossom and Citruses; middle notes are Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose and Freesia; base notes are Amber, Heliotrope, Vanilla and Musk. well i love this one but it smell like red door but elizabeth arden. but i dont like red door rapture is soooo sweet and when you wear it every ones knows you are coming i think it goes well with a red dress, for cold days :P. Love it! You have to wear it with your best evening clothes. No thanks. Why do they always discontinue the best ones???? I very much appreciate the overviews and all the feedback from users. Unfortunatly it is strong and lasts a while. LOL Honeslty though, I was a teen in the 90's when this frag came out and this scent actually used to repulse me, so that's why I always steered clear of it. A quick follow up to my review, if you like this scent get the matching body wash and pure silk lotion! Was my signature for 20+ years. Ok to those who love this VS has it on their website right now! I have been loving this perfume since it came out in 1992!!!!! Hmm was surprised to see this compared to Spellbound. Yay! Back when VS first opened, before it turned into the marketing machine that it is now, they were the kind of hushed, posh, elegant lingerie store you might see in Europe; not in the mall with hundreds of high school girls bopping in and out with PINK screaming across their hind ends. Heavy amber and spice. I have found a vintage version of this one at a pretty decent price (compared to wath I see on internet) and to my nose, this smells very much like Guerlain Samsara, even if it doesn't have the same notes, like sandalwood which is very intense in Samsara. I bought this in the Summer and almost sold because it is not a summer scent. They always discontinue the best. A classic with excelling staying power. We both loved it!! A fantastic offering from Victoria's Secret! This is sandalwood, amber very slight florals and a tiny bit of vanilla. I normally love strong, spicy scents (Opium, Obsession, etc), and I ADORE amber, so based on the notes I thought I'd love it. Retired scent. Once of my all-time fave perfumes. Thank goodness my birthday is coming up next week. Bring back the classic beauties! It is definitely not for the office, it is spicy, warm, really sexy but I'm older now and probably never would have picked this when I was younger. So my husband bought me a gift package of it. (It was the mini bottle and not labeled.) What a shame! It is a strong fragrance, and kind of screams "I am sexy, come to me!!" Then I got the last round that was still in the heart bottle (2013?). The last time I wore this was when my boyfriend at the time bought it for me as a Valentines Day gift. Starts off pretty cloying, but smells so wonderful when it settles down on the skin :). GACK! A well made perfume, im surprised it's discontinued. I have the entire fragrance set of Rapture (the box which comes with the lotion, shower cream, cologne and edp), but I am scared to layer this fragrance since the Cologne alone is STRONG. People have described this as deep, warm, ambery, woody, floral, like velvet, and animalic, sensual, spicy. I honestly couldnt love this more. Some days Rapture smells "old lady", "dirty slut" or simply repulsive, on other days, I find the dry down really clean, almost close to the skin. I wanted to like this so badly but I just couldn't. I get amber and vanilla (not listed) the strongest; the flowers are blended in well, and the amber tempers them so that you get a smell that is warm (not "spicy" in a cinnamon way), powdery and sweet all at once. Or maybe they changed the perfume. I was on my way out the door of VS when I caught Rapture's bottle out of the corner of my eye, and was drawn in. Sometimes sharp scents can feel thin, but not this one. Warm and soft, yet quite strong and prominent with good staying power. Does anyone think this smells a little different than it did in the 90's? We broke up after he got back. Or at least, it comes pretty close. Online right now: 2,449, Fragrantica in your language: I would never have tried Rapture if a dear Fragrantican had not sent me a mini splash in a care package. If you like scents like Samsara, Opium and Baiser du Dragon you will probably like this. I can understand how a lot of people don't like this, it is indeed a "mature" fragrance. One of the most enticing scents I've ever smelled! Heavy oriental musk on me. My husband likes it too and that's saying a lot. People often mistake this for Organza, Indcence , Casmir which I find interesting. Girls in high school wore this. The most mature scent VS ever made. Just wade through the current mobs and scent assault when you get to the store and ignore the other headache inducing smells and vacant stares from the 20-something salesgirls and go straight to Rapture. Love, love, LOVE this one! I treasure my bottle of this, which I received from my husband years ago for Valentines Day. I'm pretty sure this is Bijan in a heart shaped bottle. My husband love this on me. Their women's frags were definitely 10x better over their guys' stuff, perhaps b/c they specialize in women's bras & knickers. Rapture is deep, romantic, classic, sexy. I don't see ANY resemblance at all. If you do not own this GRAB IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN FOR THE LOW! I feel like I'm crazy to detect ash tray but I grew up in a house with smoking. Its a lot different than most watery, fruity Victoria's secret fragrances. If the current bottle was more creative I would have bought it. My husband absolutely loves it. Its warmth and rosy 'haute-couture' quality astounded me afresh. It exudes that old world elegance that I've always wanted in a mix that works for me! this is a great spicy sweet sexy scent.i got it as a gist and havent used it till now.The most fume victoria makes.this can hold its own with any fume. This will be one of my favs til the end just like my levis 512 jeans some may call it old ladyish but it depends on the lady age is a number just like the 512s and I am one classy old lady that loves this old fragrance because it reminds me of the back in the dayI can take it off my dresser blow off the dust and spray it and say ahhhhhhhhhh take me back!!! Ladies, if you're really missing Rapture, (I'm writing this in 2018) try CHILD by Susan Owens! I am in my 40's now, and ever since this was released in the early 90's (when I was in my twenties), I am completely powerless against this perfume One of my favorite perfumes. It is really in harmony with the perfect evening scent I love on him which is the original Escada for men. Rapture takes the place somewhere between the two. A dupe of Christian La Croix's C'est La Vie mixed with Bijan. This is so incredibly potent and over the top as to be completely annoying. Fragrance Reviews: 1,287,955 I always feel more put together when I'm wearing it. TO those of u that dont like this to each is their own but this has character to it and not to mention hubby likes it on me, I really like this one, its warm and cosy. It's not a perfume for an old lady, it's a perfume for someone who can capture the retro sexy vibe of the 50s and 60s. I had this back in the day (1990-ish?) Rapture by Victoria's Secret was quite a surprise for me! I really do miss VS fragrances that they used to produce back in the day-now, all they have for the most part is weak, fruity water that is getting weaker every year. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . is not behind this delish frag. I think they changed the formula. And the background is all smooth sweetness. Rapture was launched in 1992. At times I could pick up nuances that I found in Fire & Ice, but unfortunately that didn't last. | Deutsch | Espaol | Franais | etina | Italiano | | Polski | Portugus | | | Nederlands | Srpski | Romn | | | | |, Copyrights 2006-2022 Fragrantica.com perfumes magazine - All Rights Reserved - do not copy anything without prior written permission. I haven't tried the body lotion, so maybe that's more tolerable, but I have to pass on this one. ), This is a nice scent!! We are now the morrow and I can still smell it very well, that delightful drydown that reminds me so of Jean Paul Gauthier Classique which I wore since I was 16! Gosh, how I miss the Victoria Secret fragrances from the pre-PINK era. Perhaps I got a bad batch or my chemistry doesn't work with this but I am quite disappointed with this purchase, one of my worst blind buys for quite some time. It's a sweet, woody, ambery, very feminine perfume. I am very happy with my minis. Maybe I've changed, my tastes have changed, everything else in the perfume world has changed to that the perception of this is so different. The notes sound just fantastic, and on my skin the fragrance isn't bad, I just can't quite get myself to the cash register with this one. Wearing this makes me want to break out the hot rollers and maroon lipstick of 1994. It's big, spicy, powdery, Amber with an amazing throw. I got it in a gift set that also included Victoria, Heavenly, Devine, and Halo when I was a teenager. As my friend and I walked by the water, delicate whiffs of almonds and roses wafted around me in the most magical way. Thank you again Darling Red!!!! My husband bought this for me about 21 years ago, along with the body lotion. So sad about it, too. Cant decide if I like this enough to buy or not. I lifted the lid and let the lip bottom touch my hand and then rubbed that around and that is enough. This was a love/hate due to the amber however I FREAKING LOVE IT! Not bad, but not my character. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. Does anyone else think so? I am sitting on the fence with this one. If you're all about a "sexy" or "hot" image, I wouldn't wear this, but if you're going for a more classic vibe, this is perfect. Nice but not surprising or different. I use it all the time and have run out again ! That says it all! It may just be my body chemistry, as I normally adore rose fragrances. I agree that it is mature, but very warm and inviting. it's very warm and sweet but at the same time it's very sexy and exotic . I chose this while out with my mom and she bought me the set. I remember when this came out during my high school years and my friend's older sister wore it often. Rapture is an old love of mine. It is a bit reminiscent of the original Bijan, but perhaps not as complex. Men would stop me to ask what I was wearing, I had probably ten bottles total, and every size offered. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. Definitely not for everyone but I am one to personally lean towards ambery fragrances and orientals. Tested this beauty at the VS store today and goodness what a treasure!
